Debbie's Shower

We recently designed, catered and handcrafted a baby shower for one of my Mom's good friends, Debbie Boyle and her sweet little daughter, Emma Victoria. In the end, it turned out beautifully and we couldn't have been happier with how it all tasted!

Food Table- Veggie Tray, with assorted salads, sandwiches and finger foods in the background

Heart shaped sandwiches, bacon wrapped dates and scallops

Bacon Wrapped Dates
(Adapted from Martha Stewart)
This was a real hit! The saltiness of the bacon coupled with the sweetness of the dates was the perfect treat! And really, you would have to be crazy to not love bacon wrapped anything!

24 dried pitted dates
12 full slice of bacon, cut in half crosswise
Toothpicks

Heat broiler with rack 4 inches from heat.*
Wrap each date with a bacon strip.
Place seam side down on a slotted broiler pan. (In a pinch, you can use a bakers cooling rack on a baking sheet)
Broil until crispy on one side, 3 to 5 minutes. Turn; cook until bacon is crispy throughout, 3 to 5 minutes more.
Transfer to paper towels to drain.

*Note: We found the broiler a little too hot, and noticed the edges were burning faster than the rest of the bacon was cooking. We ended up lowering the rack to the middle of the oven and switching to bake at around 400F. It took a little longer but gave a much more even cook to the bacon.

Teriyaki Meatballs with Pineapple and Bacon wrapped goodness in the backgroud

Broccoli Salad
Buffalo Mozzarella, Tomato and Basil Skewers

A Sweet Cake for a Sweet Baby Girl!

Aunt Rose's Special Buttercream Icing

1/2 Cup of Butter
1/2 cup Golden Cristco (* I used all butter because I love butter!)
4 Cups Icing Sugar
4 - 6 Tsp of Milk

Blend together Butter, Crisco (if using) and Icing sugar until smooth.
Add Icing Sugar and Milk and blend forever (I blended for about 10 minutes) until nice and airy!
